Russian citizens must be held accountable for all crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians and military personnel – for every destroyed home, every broken life, and every life taken

Russian citizens must be held accountable for all crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians and military personnel – for every destroyed home, every broken life, and every life taken

About five days ago, supporters of the government of independent Tatarstan in exile—operating underground against the criminal Putin regime in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan—gave us the names of individuals they request to be included in our sanctions list: Radiy Khabirov’s
advisor   on cultural development and youth policy,  Radik Yulyakshin , better known as  Elvin Gray ; composer Takhir  Asyl Garey (Tagir Asylgareev) ; pop singer  Firdus  Tyamayev ; singer and actor  Rasul Karabulatov ; director  Rashid Zagidullin ; director of the Kazan Conservatory,  Rubin Abdullin ; writer  Rafis Kurbanov ; director of the Musa Jalil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre,  Raufal Sabirov;  and many others.

The government of independent Tatarstan in exile has been systematically working on sanctions lists since September 2022. We have already shared these lists with Ukraine, European countries, and the United States five times, and most of the companies and individuals we identified are already under sanctions. There are even cases where company executives or individuals, upon learning of sanctions imposed against them, begin to threaten us or offer bribes to have their names removed from the list.

How our work began — archived materials:
The “Tatar sanctions list” was handed over to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is planned to be handed over to four more countries.
The “Free Idel-Ural” movement announced the handover of the draft sanctions list, compiled following the VIII Congress of the World Congress of Tatars, to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The list contains 119 names. At the congress, delegates supported the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, which led to the creation of this list.
Co-chair of the public platform,  Rafis Kashapov , commented on the work on the sanctions list .

Russian citizens must be held accountable for all crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians and military personnel—for every destroyed home, every broken life, and every life taken.

P.S.  Public condemnation of the Russian invasion will be a signal for us to be removed from the sanctions list.

Sincerely, the press service of the Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile
