ASEAN Summit in Kazan: Diplomacy amid War

Putin will arrive in Kazan to attend the
Russia-ASEAN summit, which will take place 17-19 June 2026. According to the Kazan mayor’s office, 4,000 people will arrive in the Tatarstan capital for the summit. They will be accommodated in 30 hotels. Thousands of security personnel from Moscow and other Russian regions are already arriving in Kazan for Putin’s security.

ASEAN  is an organisation comprising ten countries in Southeast Asia: Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.

We remind you once again that since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, genocide has been committed against peoples, especially in the republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan.

Bashkortostan ranks first—only recently did the region surpass the 10,000 mark of military fatalities in Ukraine. Tatarstan ranks second with 8,900. These two republics rank first and second among all Russian regions in terms of confirmed fatalities, partly due to the active work of local volunteers, journalists, and public organisations collecting such data.

Thus, thousands of our compatriots from the Idel-Ural republics are dying in Ukraine, and billions of dollars from our republics are being sent to Moscow for the murders and destruction of Ukrainian cities.

Putin and Минниханов are directly responsible for these large-scale crimes, and therefore, we ask you to sign a decree banning the ASEAN summit in Kazan.

Sincerely, the Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile
