Official statement of the Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile
We welcome the holding of the first free elections to the Council of Representatives of the Peoples of the Udmurt Republic. These elections represent an important peaceful and democratic step for Udmurtia’s civil society on the path to independence. We remind you that Prime Minister Rafis Kashapov represented the Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile on the Organising Committee for the Elections to the Council of Representatives of the Peoples of the Udmurt Republic. We congratulate the civic leaders of Udmurtia who were elected to the Council.
We express our support for their aspirations for peace, freedom, democracy, and the building of an independent Udmurtia based on the equality of all its citizens. We acknowledge the official election results and welcome the establishment of the Council of Representatives of the Peoples of the Udmurt Republic as a democratically elected representative body of Udmurtia’s civil society. We wish the Council success, the development of international cooperation, and consistent protection of the interests of the citizens and peoples of Udmurtia. Our republics will be free!
