The Prime Minister of Independent Tatarstan became a British subject

On October 15, Tatarstan’s “decolonizer,” Rafis Kashapov, received a “certificate of British citizenship and a valuable gift,” according to the “government of independent Tatarstan,” which consists of him and his brother. The exact nature of the gift remains unknown.

Rafis Kashapov emigrated from Russia in the late 1920s, suffering political persecution, and eventually ended up in England, where he received asylum. He and his twin brother, Nafis Kashapov, declared themselves prime minister and deputy prime minister of the non-existent “independent Tatarstan” and actively participated in the “decolonizer” “Forum of Free Peoples of Post-Russia,” an organization founded by Ukrainians.
